Officers were called around 12:30 a.m. Dec. 19 to a home on the first block of East Main Street in Newville Borough on a report of an active break-in, where they met with a man who claimed that his ex-girlfriend broke into his home, assaulted him, and was still there, according to the Newville Police Department.
Officers noticed blood on the side of the man's head and bloodstains on the walls, police said. They followed the trail upstairs, which led them to Jenifer Fisher, who had fresh cuts and blood smeared along the knuckles of her right hand.
Fisher, of Carlisle, was taken into custody by police without further incident.
Witnesses reported hearing and seeing Fisher banging on her ex-boyfriend's back door and screaming to be let in before breaking the window and attempting to enter the home, according to police.
When that didn't work, she grabbed a ladder from the backyard and climbed onto the roof, then entered the house through an upstairs window, police said.
Fisher was taken to the Cumberland County Booking Center and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and simple assault.
She was arraigned on $5,000 bail and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 20.
